Hey! April
8, 2013
Well it's been a busy
interesting week. I got a new companion - Elder Prestwich from Lehi, Utah.
Sounds like you guys already know everything about him. So things changed
and... I’m still in the Broomall Ward instead of the YSA. There were 2
missionaries that got sent home right before transfers and it caused President
to have to make some last minute changes. And instead of replacing us with
sisters he used them to replace the elders that got sent home. So I’m pretty
sure it will happen next transfer instead. I didn’t find out about not going to
the YSA until the morning of transfers. It was kind of weird because we had
already told the ward that we were leaving and had got pictures, etc.
The week was good, we
found 3 new investigators! The most in the whole zone haha. We have a neighbor,
his name is Bill. We talk to him a lot almost every time we leave in the
morning or come in at night. Anyways we've talked to him a lot this week and we
got him to come to the Priesthood session.
Ok I’m going to
answer a few questions:
Transfers - went
good! We were really prepared for them this time. So it was tons less crazy
this time. It was a pretty big transfer meeting. We actually ended up opening 4
new areas; two of the new apartments didn't get filled because we
didn't have enough missionaries to fill them. We had a lot of
missionaries unexpectedly go home this past transfer.
So out of the missionaries
that you mentioned Mom that are on the email group, I know Seely, Lindley,
Handley, Prestwich and Singleton. Well those are the most that I know semi
well.
So I’m hoping to go
to the Valley Forge Park pretty soon for a P Day, I’m sure we will, and I will
get pictures for ya. Three of the new areas were Spanish areas; we got
lots of Spanish missionaries.
We watched all the
sessions of General Conference at the church. President and his wife were there
watching it also. Conference was really good, I took lots of notes. I really
liked Elder Andersen’s and Oaks talks.
Ok here's a little of
what we did this week:
Monday - Finished
getting ready for transfers. It was a busy day; we had numbers to do along with
getting everything ready. There were 2 missionaries getting sent home and
President had them stick with us so they had to follow us around. Elder Flake
had to pack since he was leaving.
Tuesday - Early in
the morning (5 AM) we dropped off all the departing missionaries at the
airport. Then came to the church after getting ready and got all the final
things ready for transfer meeting. (I already knew who my companion was) So I wasn’t
really stressed or nervous, which was nice. We spent the afternoon helping
people with all kinds of stuff after transfers. Then we went with the President
and Assistants to pick up all the new missionaries - 24 of them, 6 were
sisters. Then we spent most of the night at the mission home with them, had
dinner etc.
Wednesday - Had the
Conference Call, trained Elder Prestwich on some of the things he will be
doing. It's a little hard to get my stuff done because he doesn’t know how to
do anything yet, and has nothing to do unless I give him something. We had a
big dinner with the new missionaries and the trainers. Then they got paired up
and headed to their areas.
Thursday - We had
Zone Training. Office work then went to the Baileys for coordination.
Friday - Was a long
day. We had to drive to a bunch of places, picked up furniture, dropped off
furniture, delivered luggage, switched out a bad phone. We didn’t get home until
10:30. We were driving all day. Saturday was General Conference it was also
sort of our P-Day in between sessions. I cut my hair, we went shopping. The
Weylands took us out for lunch. We got to meet a missionary that’s coming to
our mission in June; his family was visiting for spring break.
Sunday - Conference
again. I can’t remember what else we did. But all I know is I was really tired
after all those sessions of Conference.
This week were
picking up 5 new cars. I’m losing my new Chevy Cruz, and I’m getting a minivan...
Not sure how I feel about that We have a
new investigator to teach on Wednesday, it's one of the member’s nonmember’s fiancé.
Sorry if this is a
shorter letter, I’ve got lots to do and have to go!
Have a great week!
Good to hear from ya!
Jared HAPPY
BIRTHDAY!! And Same with Grandma Great in Idaho!!
Loves,
Elder Jensen
