Hey! Aug. 3, 2013
I will start off by
saying... I’m fine :) The shingles are pretty much almost gone. I feel fine,
and it really wasn't all that bad. I think I just had a really mild case or
caught it early enough. Thanks for the get well package etc. It gave me things
to snack on during the week while I’ve been in the office. I will talk about
the whole shingles thing for ya real quick. So basically last Tuesdayish I got
like 5ish bumps that looked like spider bites. Had no reason to think it was
anything else. Put some anti-itch stuff on it, and it seemed fine. Few days
later they were itching a little. So I lifted up my shirt to see if they had
changed or something and I had this little patch of small red bumps on my lower
left abdomen. Thought it was weird and didn't know what it was so I went and
showed it to Elder Cannon and he instantly said you have shingles! He wasn't
completely sure but he said it looked a lot like it. (He knew because he had it
in High School) Anyways I didn't know whether I should make a big deal about it
or not. So fast forward to Friday, the patch was starting to get a little bit
worse so I decided to show it to Sister Anderson, and guess what she said...
Shingles! So since it was Friday she said I wouldn’t be able to see the
doctor until Monday. Ok now fast forward to Saturday morning. It seemed to be
getting just a tiny bit worse. I was starting to get another small patch of
bumps. So I let Sister Anderson know. She called our Area Doctor in Pittsburg
and our Mission Doctor. Guess what they said? They told me to drop what I was
doing and go to an Urgent Care. I was a little surprised they were so
concerned. So I found an Urgent Care that was pretty close and we went, filled
out lots of paper work and spent lots of money. To find out that yes, I did
have shingles. So they put me on some sort of medicine that I had to take 3
times a day for 7 days. So as of today I am done taking it. Every day it got a
little bit better, and it’s pretty much gone except some little scabs. And yes I’ve
better putting stuff on them for scaring, and I’ve been taking lots of vitamins
all week. And I’ve tried not to stress but that’s a little about what’s going
on this week. Except I don’t feel like I’ve been all that stressed, I feel like
I handle stress pretty well. So I guess I was stressed without knowing it.
Anyways…Since I didn’t write you a letter last week I will tell you a little
bit of what we did. So pretty much I could sum this letter up by saying I’ve
been very busy. So last week we had Mission Leadership Council. It was a pretty
important one. We had A LOT to talk about. President has been here a month now
and he’s starting to figure the mission out more and know what he expects. So
were starting to make some changes. So last week we spent a lot of time with
the Assistants and President brain-storming and planning. We are pretty much
re-doing all of our stats reports, re-writing and re-designing our Mission
Stats website. And re-thinking the way we keep track of numbers and key
indicators. So President Anderson is really big on the whole member involvement
thing. It’s awesome!! So he really wants to hold the Stake Presidents and
Bishops accountable for how much they are involved in the work. So I’m trying
to explain what we did without making this long. Pretty much after lots
of brain storming and LOTS of planning we came up with some pretty good stuff. Anyways I put this Sweet Slideshow together to train
all the Zone Leaders and Sister Trainers on the new changes. So on Friday I and
Elder Cannon and President spent an hour and a half presenting this slideshow
to everyone. It went really well and we had a really good discussion with
everything. So I’m going to send you the PowerPoint so you can see what I'm
talking about.
Ok what else. Well
transfer is next Tuesday, and no I’m not getting transferred. But I’m pretty
sure this is my last 6 weeks in the office. President emailed Elder Hallstrom
and told him that we really, really needed another Office Couple asap. Elder
Hallstrom agreed and approved the request. So we will be getting another office
couple. We don't know when but hopefully before I leave. But Elder Smuin will
be taking over for me, so after things calm down after transfers I will begin
training him. President is a little worried because with all Sr. Couples in the
office he's not going to have anyone techy or anyone to do all the stuff I’m
doing.
Well I’ve been very,
very busy with trying to find apartments. We were aiming for 10 apartments; I
think we’re only going to get 9. Right now we have 2 companionships that will
be assigned to two areas that we don’t have an apartment for yet. So were going
to need a miracle for those two apartments. I’m busy with lots of other stuff
but this letter is already too long.
We have 30 new
missionaries coming out next week. I think 9 of those are sisters, 4 of them
Visa waiters. As of next Tuesday we will be at 242 missionaries!! That's a
lot!! Guess what's weird... I helped Sister Smuin order my groups plane tickets
yesterday... Crazy huh? And as of a few days ago we have 3 months left.
Well I’m sure I’m
missing something; let me know if there was anything specific I was supposed to
talk about. Thanks for the pictures and glad everyone had a good time for Kylee’s
Birthday.
:)
:)
