Hey how is everyone!
Hey so I'm sorry i
didn't tell you about our area or our investigators last week! It was an insane
week and i got all caught up in it and forgot to tell you about the missionary
part. So i will talk about that first this time. So the only person that we're
mostly working with is Dan. We've been teaching him for a few weeks. He is
friends with Hailey a girl in our ward. They are both going to medical school
together. He's pretty cool, and so far he's had no concerns at all. He's been
soo easy to teach. Were all the way to the commandments with him now. He has a
baptism date for September 8th but were going to try to move it up. He's ready
right now in my opinion. But he's doing way good, and the YSA has been awesome
about fellow shipping him. He fits right in. We actually have several non
members that come to our YSA each week and everyone is friends with each other
and hangs out etc. So its really good. The YSA is the perfect example of what
all the wards in our mission should be doing. We just introduced that new key
indicators - IBM's. (Individuals brought by Members) Which is to track the
members effort in bringing their friends to church/activities and introducing
them to the missionaries. And the YSA is already doing it! Other cool
news. The assistants have been teaching a girl named sandra. She speaks Spanish
and is learning English. But they have been able to teach her cause elder
Larson is a spanish missionary. Anyways the YSA is on a trip to Palmyra this
weekend. And they've worked it out so that Sandra can get baptized in the
Susquehanna River on the way down!! So us and the Assistants can't go to
Palmyra but we can go to Susquehanna! So were all driving up there tomorrow for
the baptism. And Elder Larson will be baptizing her in the river. It's gonna be
pretty good. And i will get lots of good pics of course. OK i think that's kind
of it.... now office stuff.
Jeez its been a busy
week. But a really good one!! We had transfers this week!! It already feels so
long ago. We had an Enormous transfer meeting. I think we figured out that 75%
of the Mission was there. It was the Anderson's first Transfer meeting.
And they loved it! They are awesome. Sister Anderson had her camera and she was
snapping pics the whole time. Me and the assistants spent forever over the
weekend getting the transfer slideshow all ready. There is soooooo many things
to do to make transfers happen smoothly. So many different aspects and things
to make it all come together. We had lots of late nights in the last week and a
half. Even though transfers is over I'm still looking for a few apartments that
we weren't able to get in time. I'm pretty worn out and sick of looking for
apartments. Its such a long process, and its just nuts when I'm dealing with 9
landlords all at once. Pretty soon i will have to start looking for next
transfers apartments. we have 123 apartments right now, not including senior
couple apartments. That's a lot of bills, a lot of money and a lot to keep
track of.
K so you wanna hear
something cool? So we got 30 new goldens this transfer. 4 were visa waiters.
Well Elder Larson has a brother that went into the MTC a little bit ago and
he's going to Brazil. Well the week before transfers he was joking with Pres.
Anderson about getting his brother to be a Visa waiter in our mission. Well
President Called SLC and requested to have his brother be a visa waiter in our
mission. They said they would see what they would do, and that i has to have
1st presidency approval etc. Well they did it!! So we know the names of the
visa waiters a few days before they come in. And we found out that Elder
Larson's brother was one of them. We wanted to keep it a Secret, so only
President, me, Elder Cannon and Sister Smuin knew about it. We came up with a
fake name and used another missionaries picture for everything. So Elder Larson
had no clue and was kind of bummed cause his brother wasn't coming. When we
went to the Airport to pick up all the new missionaries i got in a good spot
with my camera and got video of them seeing each other etc. I got a pretty good
video. Were gonna put it up on YouTube so that everyone can see it, cause its
too big to email. I will send ya pics for now though.
Transfers went well
for the most part. Sister Hall opened a new area with Sister Williams. (Sis.
Williams is Blackfoot, ID too so she knows the cannons. I got to meet Elder
Meline from PG, we got a pic. So I'm pretty sure its official that i will be
leaving the office in 6 weeks. I will start training Elder Smuin pretty soon.
Because we don't have another senior couple yet to replace E. Prestwich or Elder
Smuins spot, I suggested that the Holloways temporary fill in. They live really
close, same place as the smuins and they are both really good friends. And they
only teach a few classes a week so they could totally do it. So President is
going to ask them to come in part time. President is pretty worried about me
leaving and Elder Cannon & Larson too. Were his resource to ask any
questions he has. And most of the mission is pretty young. So a lot of
experience will be lost when my group goes home. He is also gonna loose a few
zone leaders when my group leaves. But I'm gonna tell him hes welcome to call me
anytime to help with whatever.
Well i think that's
mostly all the stuff i wanted to tell you guys about. Have fun it Idaho and
Arizona. Talk to ya later!
