Oct. 15th, 2012

Hey!                                                                                                                                                   Oct. 15, 2012
Sup!? Well we had a good week! Found 3 new investigators!! And had 2 investigators at church - Bro. Coull and Bro. Applegate.
Last week I told you a little about what we did on Monday for P Day. We went to Cabela's with Bruce. We had a good time, and we also had that encounter with the Born Agains. We went over to the House's for dinner. We taught them about having a Firm Foundation - Helaman 5:12. We did this little activity with the kids with 3 cups and 3 knives. Each of the cups represent 3 columns that make up the foundation. Which are Church, Prayer and Reading our Scriptures. You have to make all the knives balance on top of the cups and also be touching each other, if that makes sense. And then we put something heavy on top of the knives. Which represents Satan and temptation. Then we put a little Lego guy underneath, and we slowly pull out the cups, representing not praying or not going to church etc. until the heavy thing falls on the guy. So you have to be doing all 3 things all the time to have that strong foundation. Ok Tuesday - We helped Bruce out in the morning. We started cutting all his floorboards to length and squaring them up. Remember last week when i told you about Michelle, the new investigator we found right before General Conference? Well we had an appointment scheduled with her on Tuesday, but she texted us and cancelled and said she didn’t want to waste our time because they had no intention of converting. (Because they're Catholic) so that was lame. Later we visited a Less Active member that we had visited before. She is really nice, but she told us that we kind of don’t have any point in coming over because she isn’t going back anytime soon. Anyways she ended up telling us the whole situation of her getting offended at church etc. It was pretty sad to hear that just because of someone saying something stupid that someone else would completely give up going to church over it. And turns out that the people that she mentioned don’t even really know that they were the ones that offended her. Anyways after that we saw Gary for a little, he is still having an issue with the coffee thing. He also did some "research" on Joseph Smith. I got a little annoyed because he was telling us all kinds of stuff about him that wasn't true. And I’ve heard a lot of anti about Joseph Smith lately. But anyways that stuff Gary read didn’t really affect him though which was good, he said he knew Joseph Smith wasn't perfect. After that we went out to eat with Trisha and Bruce at a Mexican restaurant. Yummmm, I love Mexican food!! Wednesday - We stopped by a lot of Less Actives and potentials. We knocked a few doors because we ran out of people to visit, and we ran into a young lady named Chelsi, like in her 20's.  We asked her if she knew anyone that could use some service, and she said yes I do! So she gave us an old guys name and info etc. Then we said we also teach about Jesus Christ would you be interested in having us come over? And she said, actually yes, I want to start teaching my 3 year old about that stuff. So we set up an appointment with her for tonight! So were really excited for that. Then we helped Bro. Hinkel out with some service at his house. Later we helped with something called Food for Friends. It's like a soup kitchen kind of a thing. Its at a Quaker Meeting house, and different churches switch off on providing meals for people. So it was our Branches turn. I have been there once before when I first got to this area. After that we visited the Camp/Forsythe family. I was able to give my pants to Sister Forsythe to fix. Yay! Thursday - We had district meeting. It was on "Finding People" Then after we had our weekly planning session we went out for a District Lunch. We were in Pennsburg in the evening, which is at the bottom of our area, and the two appointments that we had down there cancelled... But we were able to see Jeff Liddle, he's a member, we've been helping him with family history and temple stuff. Then we went over to the Applegate family’s home for dinner. Sis. Applegate is from Mexico and she made us some really good food! Her husband is not a member, but they are both super nice. She has a son that just left on his mission, from Mexico to Mexico. She has another son that is living here with them that is thinking about going on a mission pretty soon.  We had a really good time with their family. Friday - We saw Pebo in the morning. We watched Elder Bednars talk from conference on Conversion and testimonies. It was perfect for him. It talked about acting on our feelings. Afterwards we talked about it with him... AND we were able to commit him to be baptized on Nov. 18th!! YAY. He said he would try to be baptism eligible by that day, pretty cool eh? That night we were supposed to see Kathy. We couldn’t find any Adult males to come with us to see her, so we taught her over Facebook! Isn’t that sweet!! That was actually my first time doing that, but it came in handy, because we were still able to teach her. Then we saw Gary real quick, he's having lots of back issues right now. He didn't come to church again this Sunday. Which means we lost his date for next Sunday, because you have to come to church 4 times and he has came twice. So next time we see him were going to have to set a new date and solve this problem with the word of wisdom. Then we saw the Coull's. Sister Coull's brother just moved in, so he sat in on the lesson.  He had lots of questions at first about our church, so we spent a ton of time answering all his questions. We basically taught him the first 4-5 lessons by answering his questions. Our plan was to teach the Plan of Salvation and when we started to answer questions about the spirit world we just said actually we had planned to teach you guys about this tonight, so were just going to start from the beginning. It went really good and at the end of the lesson we invited Lou (the brother) and Ken (the husband) to be baptized. Lou said yes, Ken said no. haha Ken kept saying he had already been baptized...AHHHHHHH he didn’t get it. haha even though we kept going over how it's the authority that matters etc. And he says he believes that Joseph Smith was a prophet, anyways we will hopefully get him next time. Sister Coull really wants him to be baptized. Saturday - We helped Bruce in the morning. We laid down almost all of his floor, he had already done part of the other half during the week. We are jointing all the boards together with biscuits and glue and then we clamp them together. Anyways it looks really good and we have got a lot of work done. Bruce loves us for helping him out so much, because we save him a ton of time. That night we saw the Seguine's and Houses. Both Members. Sunday - Like I said we had 2 investigators at church. I blessed the Sacrament. The primary kids were practicing for their primary program today. I also attended Gospel Doctrine for the first time today. After church we went over to Trisha's house to watch a parade in front of her house with her. After the parade we had a really good discussion with her. She told us she had started to read the Book of Mormon the other day. Anyways we talked a lot about her church and ours and her beliefs. She shares a lot of our same beliefs. But were going back over to help her with some stuff so we will continue to talk to her later this week. Then we had dinner with the Adams Family. They are awesome! And yes Zander their son did leave for his mish. He leaves the MTC on the 24th, I think for San Jose. After that we went and taught the Seguines.
And that was the week!! Wow these letters take a long time to write haha!
Umm, lets see. Mom thanks for all the surprises in the mail! I’m super happy to have got my watch back!! And Grandma Janet thanks for the clothes!! I like them a lot! We find out on Friday if anybody is getting transferred. This is my 3rd transfer in this area. I’m hoping to stay, but I have no idea what will happen. I think that's about it, nothing else new or exciting. 1 year is coming up!! crazy crazy!! ;)
Have a great week!! Thanks for everything!
