Sept. 24th, 2012

Hey!                                                                                                      Sept. 24, 2012

So first Happy Birthday Dad!! Hope you guys had a good day. I can’t wait to hear about Jared's Homecoming date. Did we win the Game?? That's cool that you were able to go to the Brigham City Dedication yesterday.
Ok we had another good/interesting/crazy week. Starting with Monday - So Brother Seguine just got a new fancy Android phone that he has no idea how to use. haha.  So we went over during our P-day and I helped him with his phone and showed him how to use it etc. Old people shouldn’t get fancy phone like that, it’s just to hard for them to understand. We were supposed to see Leslie that night but she cancelled and told us she would call us maybe next week... So we don’t know what to think with her.. After that we went out to eat with Bruce and Trisha. They took us to this really good Mexican restaurant, which was really good! It was pretty much my first time having real Mexican food on my mission!  So that was awesome! Tuesday we had Zone Conference, up in Bethlehem, PA. It was really long, 9 to 5. But we learned some good stuff. President gave a little presentation on the translation of the Book of Mormon. He showed us some pictures of the Original manuscript, and talked about the translation process. We had Facebook training for the first time!! Which it’s about time, because we've had Facebook in the Mission for almost 2 years. And we don’t really get told how the best way to use it for missionary work etc. We kind of just have to figure it out on our own. So they talked about some thing we can use it for. They talked about having a 3-way chat/lesson with our investigators on Facebook. Which I have never been able to do, but it’s a cool idea. I got to sit by Elder George during the whole thing. He is training again for the 2nd time in a row!  After that we went to the Cubbages for dinner. I was super tired because Zone Conference was really long and I had drove a lot. After the Cubbages we went over to Gary's house. We watched “Finding Faith in Christ” with him. Wed - We helped Danny in the morning with his fence. We are about halfway done with it. But I don’t know if we will finish before it gets too cold. After that Brother House came with us to teach Kathy. Had a good lesson on Faith and repentance with her. Later we had dinner with the Seguines. We helped Bro. Seguine more with his phone and then read the Book of Mormon with them. Thursday – we had District meeting, then we spent the night in Emmaus just stopping by less actives and potentials. Nothing too exciting that day. Friday - We had a lesson with Peabo our Jewish Investigator. We watched “Finding Faith in Christ” with him also. It actually went pretty well. Missionaries have taught him for a long time. After watching the video he said that he thinks that there might be a chance that Jesus Christ really was the Messiah. We kind of talked about how knowing that Jesus Christ had already came would kind of change a lot of stuff for him. Then we went over to Bruce's house. We helped him unload a 900-pound box out of his truck. No big deal.  Then we helped him around his yard. Then later we just stopped by more less-actives. Ok Saturday - So Sister Adams our Branch Presidents wife signed us up for the Lower Milford Fall Festival. It's kind of like the PG promenade but a little smaller. But we had a booth/tent set up there. We made a big banner that had the church logo and mormon.org on it. Then I made a pretty legit hand out to give to people. So let me tell you about it. So it went from 10 to 5 and it was a pretty nice day. It just so happens that we were right next to a Baptist church booth... Which wasn't a problem at first.  ;) We also had two ladies that were members from other wards in our stake selling candles across from us. So that was really cool to have other members of the church there! Whenever we got bored we would go over to talk to them. Ok back to the Baptists. So it was a little awkward and intimating at first to have another church next to us. But we talked to them a little and got to know them. They were pretty nice guys and things were good for most of the morning. My companion gave them one of our handouts because it has some FAQ's about our church on there so he thought it would be good to give it to them for educational reasons...which they were fine with. So the guy asked if he could give what they were handing out to us, to kind of exchange handouts. So they were handing out a lot of DVD's to people that passed by, and I knew it was something about the bible from what I had overheard. Well me and my companion started looking at the DVD and we noticed that one of the things it had on it was something called "Mormon video".  For a second I was wondering why a Baptist DVD would have a Mormon video on it. Then we realized it was an Anti Mormon Video!! And they had been handing these out to people all day! My companion asked him about it, and he kind of acted like he didn’t know it was on there. And he said it was probably just a documentary on our church or something. So a couple minutes later, I over heard one of the Baptist guys talking to a person about how the Mormons are a cult...!! And I was over hearing him say all this other bad stuff about our church. I couldn’t believe they had the guts to say that stuff when we were right next to them. We had had a friendly conversation with them earlier and I thought that everything was good between the two churches. But this whole time they had been giving out Anti Mormon videos and handouts, and telling people to remember that the Bible was the only word of God and that we are saved by grace not by our works. My companion and me were pretty angry and they were telling all these lies about us to all these people! My companion decided to confront them about calling us a Cult and some other stuff. I stayed out of it. hah. But he talked to them for like 20 minutes.  It was him against 3 Baptists and they all had their bibles out. It was pretty ridiculous. They kind of ended on goodish terms, but we weren't very happy with them. But other then that it was a good day. We gave a Book of Mormon to a lady and gave away some DVDs, pass along cards etc. Then we went over to the Adams for dinner that night. Ok and now Sunday - Church was good! Zander Adams gave his farewell talk. Gary wasn’t able to make it to church because he was having back pain. But right after church we met up with him and his Friend Kathy B. We have had dinner with her over at Gary's house a few times. She invited us over for Lunch to answer some questions. Haha, it was pretty funny, she had a good list of all the usual questions and some deep stuff! She had done some extra "research", things from Kolob to magic underwear came up. She wasn’t trying to prove us wrong and just wanted answers to all the crazy stuff she's hearing about us on HBO. haha. But I think she kind of realizes that we might be right and she's kind of scared of that. She just doesn’t want to admit it. But it actually went well and we will be seeing her again. Ok now the cool part. Kyra Mass' Baptism was Sunday!!! We met Kevin and Autumn in Doylestown, PA and he drove us the rest of the way. The Baptism was awesome!!! Kyra was finally baptized!!! And even cooler two of my old investigators from Medford were there at the baptism! - Steve Parker and John Bravo! So it was super cool to see them. Kyra had a good turn out just like Autumn. I had a really good time, and it was good to see all the Medford people again!! Brother and Sister Wright drove us home so that Kevin could rest. Autumn also came with us for the ride back. It was a long day but sooooo coool! Now half of their family are members! And I will most likely be going back really soon for another one of their baptisms, I will let you guess who.
Well that was the week! It’s getting colder here 60-70's. I don’t like it at all. But the trees and leaves are going to look pretty cool soon! Umm I think that’s about it!
Hope you guys have a good week! I have a ton of letters to write back to my friends today so I will be busy with that!
