Waz up? Hope everyone had a great Conference weekend. How was the Weather? It looked like it was a pretty clear nice day there from the shots of the conference center. I will talk about what I did for conference later. But here's how my week was. Monday- Regular P-Day. Also the first day of October... which is really weird. We went over to the Del Priore's house for dinner. Brother Del Priore is the former Branch President here in Milford. This was our first time over at their house. We had a really good dinner, and then we talked to Brother Del Priore about the Branch and got some good info from him. While he was Branch President he got a lot of people to come back to church, reactivation etc. Tuesday - We went over to help Bruce with his floorboards, but we got rained out. So instead he took us out for brunch at the Coopersburg Diner. Then we went and taught Kathy, and we brought Gary our investigator with us to the lesson. Later we went over to the Houses for dinner, we read the Tree of Life story to the kids and had them each draw it as we read it. Then we also went over to the Seguine's after that. Wednesday - In the morning we went over to Bruce's house to help him finish off the last floorboards. Then we went over to Gary and Jen's house to help them set up for a garage sale they were having. After all that and later we went over to the Seguines for dinner. Then we saw Pebo, we challenged him to live like a Mormon for two weeks. So we told him that includes all the commandments - word of wisdom etc. He is so close he knows it is true, it’s just the change part, because his life would change a ton if he decided to make the switch. But he accepted and should be starting today. We have also been watching a Bible Video with him each time we come over, since he's a Jew and doesn't so much believe in the New Testament and Jesus Christ. Thursday- We had Zone Training out in Kutztown, it was on teaching with the spirit. Later we dropped by the Seguines and then had dinner with the Hillman Family. Friday- We went on Exchange with the Allentown Missionaries. They doubled into our area, so I was with our District Leader Elder Carraway. He is pretty cool and it went well. In the morning we stopped by a few people, then later we went and helped Brother Hinkel seal some cracks in his drive way. The exchange was short because we switched at 6. Then we went over to Gary's house for dinner, and we taught him the Word of Wisdom...which he didn’t completely agree with. He said he would never quit coffee, which is kind of a problem. His Baptism is coming up in 2 weeks and I’m not entirely sure if he will make that or not. Other then that he is doing good, it's normal for people to have word of wisdom concerns. After that we went across the street to visit the Coull's. We watched Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration. I love that movie!! It's soo good, and they really liked it also. Ok Saturday- First day of Conference!! We went to Bruce's house early and helped him to start to prepare the room that the wood boards are going to go in. So we swept and vacuumed and then put a layer of paper down and stapled it. Then we started laying some of the boards down. Then he ordered us lunch and we all watched the 1st session together on his flat screen up there. Conference was awesome and they started it off great with some really good talks and a really cool announcement. When president Monson was talking about how sending guys at 18 in other countries had worked, I was thinking he's going to lower the age!... Then he announced it officially, along with lowering the age for women. We couldn’t believe it!! It was funny to see everyone’s faces in the Conference center, they all looked shocked. haha. We were able to answer questions for Bruce about the Apostles etc. He was pretty impressed with the speakers. Then for the 2nd session we went over to the Seguines and watched it with them. Then had dinner at their house. We rode with Bro. Seguine to the Priesthood session. It’s a big change going to a priesthood session in a branch building with less then 25 guys compared to the priesthood sessions in PG. haha. We got home pretty late because priesthood session starts at 8 here. Sunday- In the morning we stopped by a few people. We knocked on a lady's house that was written down as a potential, I asked her if she was Michelle and she said yes. I asked her if she remembered missionaries stopping by a while ago, and she said yes. So I said we were just coming by to see if you’re still interested in a message about Christ, and she said Yes, I am... Which I was pretty shocked for a second because nobody ever says yes... haha. She lived in a really nice neighborhood so she looked like a reliable person. So we were able to set up an appointment to see her on Tuesday. Sweet huh? We watched both of the Sunday sessions at the church. The Adams were there with us along with 2 other people. Mom my favorite talks were actually pretty much the same ones you liked - Elder Nelsons I loved, because it was basically meant for non-members. And i liked the whole "Ask the Missionaries", Sister Dibbs was good, Elder Bednars was good and perfect for our Jewish investigator. I also liked the talk about What’s a Christian or something like that, especially because we have run into 2 people lately who have tried to convince us that we aren't Christian. One happened today but I will talk about that later. But yeah Conference was good! We went over to the Haws for lunch and then the Adams for dinner on Sunday.
We are starting week
5 of 6, I have no idea if I will be staying here in Milford or not. This is my
3rd transfer here and 2nd transfer with Elder Bury. President did mention on
our last mission wide conference call that there would be a lot of changes this
next transfer, because 18 new missionaries are coming in. Which is a really big
group!
Mom thanks for the
surprise in the mail haha I can’t believe you can ship stuff like that, I never
thought of it before.
My computer is about
to shut me off, but I will tell you about today real quick. Bruce drove us out
to Cabela's in Hamburg, PA. Its supposed to be the largest Cabela's in the
world. (but it's really not much bigger then the Lehi one) Anyways while we
were there, two old guys kind of stop and stare at us (kind of the way Members
do when they see us somewhere) We could tell that he wanted to talk to us so we
said hi, We were thinking that they were members because they knew we were
missionaries etc. And they were friendly, we got talking to them a little, and
they said they were Born Again Christians... Anyways we had a friendly
conversation and then he turned it in to a religious conversation and they
basically started trying to tell us that we were blinded and lost, and fooled
by Joseph Smith and telling us all this anti stuff. They were still kind of
friendly about it, but they actually said some really rude stuff, and they both
gave us the opportunity to decide if we really wanted to know the truth or not
etc. It was pretty ridiculous and wasted a lot of our time. Then they prayed
for us... like right there in Cabelas we had like a prayer circle thing going.
They told us they hope we find the truth. The whole time we just smiled and
nodded our heads, and tried to correct them or tell them that they were wrong
but that went nowhere. Anyways that was interesting...
Well I gotta go!
Have a great week!!
Love, Elder Jeremy
Jensen
