August 6th, 2012

Hey waz up?!                                                                   August 6, 2012
It's been a crazy, busy, full week. I got my 4th companion on Tuesday. But I will start with what we did on Monday.
So Monday, Elder McCrae finished packing his stuff. Then I was going to go down to Broomall, PA with him, so that he could have his exit interview. And I was going to have a temporary companion for a day. But one of our Zone Leaders was also going home, so they decided to meet up with us, and I went with one of the Zone Leaders- Elder Olavason to Pottstown for the day. Then Elder McCrae and the other Zone Leader took our car down to Broomall. So I spent P Day in Pottstown. We didn’t do a whole lot, but that night we did a lot of walking around downtown Pottstown talking to people and we had one teaching appointment. Then Tuesday morning we got a member to drive us down to Broomall for transfers. I got Elder Bury, he's from Barstow, CA. He's been out like 18-20 months. He was in Delaware before this. It took like an hour 1/2 to drive back to our area. We did a little shopping because I wasn’t in our area for p day to do shopping. We came home and he was able to unpack, etc. Then we were out of miles for the month and it was the last day, so we walked to the library, then we met with our Branch mission leader that night. Wednesday- We went over to Bruce's house. We helped him build a planter box for his flower bed. Then we stopped by a member family to introduce Elder Bury to them, and a lady across the street yelled over and asked us to come over. So we started walking across the street. I guess she thought we lived at the house we were walking too. But she explained that she was moving and the people that were supposed to help didn’t show up. She wanted to pay us to help her, but we told her that we would do it for free, and she insisted that she pay us. But we explained that were missionaries that we do service and help people move all the time for free. So she had two family members come over and we all helped load the moving truck. Then later that night, the Deckers took us out to a Chinese place for dinner. Their son Brian just got his call to Portland. So they had lots of questions about buying stuff etc. I told her about the missionary mom’s website. I think she might get on that. Thursday- We had Zone Training. We had Bruce drive us, because it was way over in Kutztown which is like 25 miles away. We learned about the Doctrine of Christ. So like 2 Nephi 31. We also talked about inviting people to be baptized. We did a few practices and me and Elder Cannon were actually in the same group which was pretty cool. Four of our MTC guys were there, so we all got a pic together. Thursday was also our 9 month mark! So it was really cool to see all of them. It was Elder George, Elder Deforest, Elder Cannon and me. Zone Training was really good, they haven’t done zone training for a long time. But they just decided to start doing it again. We also have Zone Conference every other transfer. After that we went over to Bro. Hinkels house to help him with some service. He had an AC unit that was leaking into his house, so we had to take it out and clean the inside etc. and fix it up. Then we had our weekly planning session. Then Brother House came with us to teach the Kelly’s. They are a non-member family were teaching. Friday- So me and my companion are both fairly new to this area, even though I’ve been here for 6 weeks, there is still a lot I don’t know about the area. So we started to look through the area book and some old records to see who we could visit. So Friday we stopped by some old former investigators and also some less actives. We had an appointment with a recent convert - Jessie. She's 20, so we got to know her, and showed her how to get the scriptures on her iPhone which she thought was awesome. But it went really well and we set up another appointment for tomorrow and she’s going to have her nonmember brother there. After that we stopped by an older less active couple. And they let us in, we got to know them a little bit. Then they told us why they were less active, they had some issues with the Word of Wisdom, tithing and some stuff about the Masons and our temple ordinances. But I asked the wife if she wanted to quit smoking, and she said yes. Cause her doctor had actually told her that she needed to. So were going back over this week to teach our quit smoking program to them and to have dinner with them. And hopefully we can resolve their other concerns and get them back to church! Saturday- We met up with Bruce at 7am and he took us out for breakfast. Then we headed over to his house to help him with some yard work. Then later in the day we headed to Quakertown and visited a lot of less actives and set up appointments with a few of them. I have the entire ward in my GPS and I also have them color coded according to if they are Active or Less Active. And then I can view them as colored pins on my gps and it will tell us who were by. Sunday- We had church, it went really good. Elder Bury was able to meet a lot of the Branch members. It was Sis. House's Birthday so we went over and had dinner with them. Then we went and saw the Seguines, Sis. Seguine is a Recent Convert from Feb. And her husband became active again when she was baptized and now they are awesome members. We read the BOM with them. And tonight were going to start re-teaching the lessons to them. Today we were supposed to go to Cabela's with Bruce. It's the Biggest Cabela's, but he had to cancel cause he wasn’t feeling good this morning. So maybe another P Day.
I was pretty stressed this last week, with making sure we had good plans etc. But everything worked out, which was good. We still don’t really have any Progressing Investigators... Were finally meeting with a new investigator- Gloria tonight, so hopefully that goes well, she is really nice and pretty willing to meet with us. So cross your fingers.
It’s been so humid lately and hot. It’s the worst. It feels sooo nasty. Like imagine taking a shower then just putting your clothes on without drying off. You go outside and you just feel wet, and it takes all the energy out of you.
We have a pretty good amount of appointments set up for this week! I can’t believe school is about to start up again already! Seems like summer went by fast!! And I’m not even going back to school!
Well that's about all! Thanks to everyone that is still writing me! I got two letters from friends this week, and supposedly I have a letter coming from Danny in Honduras!
Have a greeeaaat week!  Read your scriptures!
