Hey, August
27, 2012
How's it going? We had a pretty good week. Monday- P day, we went and got our emissions and inspections done because we found out they had expired last month. So we brought the car into Pep Boys because the church works with them. We ended up getting new tires too, which was sweet. We got Brother Johnson to drive us around so we could do some shopping while we didn’t have a car. That night we went over to the House's as usual. We had dinner with them, and then we went and visited Bro. Hillman and shared a message with him and his family. Tuesday- we are trying to really organize all of our missionary "Stuff" like we’re making a new finder binder etc. So we have a big map on the wall with foam board behind it. A lot of the pins have fallen out, people have moved etc. So we bought some new pins, and I wrote down the names of everyone in the Branch, and then we used my GPS to find out where everyone lived and then we pinned them on the map. It looks really good and it’s going to help us so much. Then we went and taught a Less Active Recent Convert with Bro. Johnson. We found out that the minister from her old church had told her something’s about our church and she is also feeling some peer pressure from her friends not to go to our church. So that was good to find out and hopefully we can help her with her concerns! Then we went over to Andy's house. He had some furniture for the Hillmans because they are moving and need furniture for their new house. So we helped him deliver that, and we taught him during the drive over. Then that night we went and saw Jessie. She was baptized last Fall, and that was our last time teaching her before she goes to Penn State. We've got her all set up for Institute and Singles Ward. Then we got some pictures etc. with her before she left. Wednesday - We went and helped Bruce with his yard, and later we went and helped Trisha with her Art Website, its almost done kind of. It’s www.tcullenart.com. After that we went over to the Seguine's for dinner and read the Book of Mormon with them. Thursday - District Meeting was all on the Book of Mormon. So it was a really good meeting. We just learned about how important it is to make sure our investigators are always reading and praying about the Book of Mormon. Then we went on exchange with the Zone Leaders that night, the Exchange went really good. We went over to the Hess's for dinner, and had a really good time with them. They gave us a lot of awesome information about the ward that we can use for our new finder binder etc. We also found a new investigator that night - Andre. He is a former investigator and we will be meeting with him tonight. Friday - We went and continued to help Danny with painting his chain link fence. Were about halfway done with it. Then we went over to the Adams house. Sister Decker the primary Pres. invited us over for the Primary activity at the Adams house. She asked us to share a missionary story from the Book of Mormon with the kids. We had lunch with them and then shared the story of Alma the younger and the Sons of Mosiah (Mosiah 27) and it went well and they enjoyed it. Then we gave all the kids pass along cards to share with their friends. Oh also that morning at 4AM our Carbon Monoxide alarm started going off... ugh. Took us forever to find out the battery was just low. So we fixed that, and then I was pretty much up the rest of the night. So I was pretty tired that day. Then.... We had our 2nd visit with Leslie our new investigator who lives next to the Seguines. Brother House came with us and it was awesome!!!! We taught the first half of the Restoration and she had tons of questions, all key awesome questions. You could tell that a lot of the stuff was clicking in her head. She said at the end of the lesson that she agrees with everything we taught her. We also met her sister for a second who is also interested and we gave her a pamphlet before she left. Leslie is really anxious to come to our church. But she's waiting to come with her Sister who is really busy. But were seeing Leslie again tonight and hopefully her sister is there also. Oh and we gave her a Book of Mormon last time and she was really excited to have her own copy. :) Pretty cool beans. I was so happy the entire lesson. Saturday - we went and helped Bro. Seguine clean and organize his garage. Later we went over to Brother Hinkels house. Helped him with stuff in his yard. Helped him get an area ready to stack some wood. He told us all about the NBC Mormon special that aired Thursday. Which by the way mom, I read about it on the Church News Website so that’s how I knew about it. After that we went and helped the House's clean the church, and also stopped by some Less Actives. Sunday - Well our Branch Presidency was re-organized. The Stake Presidency was there, and they took care of it right away. Brother Adams who was the 2nd Counselor is now the Branch Pres., Brother Johnson stayed as 1st Counselor, and Brother Cubbage was called as 2nd Counselor. They also called a new Clerk and Secretary. Bro Hinkel had been the clerk for 10 years! Later we headed down to the very bottom of our area (like 30 minutes away) and stopped by less actives that we cant visit very often because of the distance. After that we went to the House's for dinner. Then Brother House went out with us after to stop by a few formers and potentials.
So yeah that was our week. Heard all about the NBC thing from Bro. Hinkel, and some other members plus you Mom. We go to the Restoration site on Wednesday. (Harmony, PA) Its called Oakland now. So that will be really cool! FYI Sunday is my 10-month mark... No big deal ;) Everything is going good. Also another FYI my iPod is awesome!!!! I use it a ton for missionary work. I have the entire Gospel Library on there. I have the whole Milford Branch Directory, Preach my gospel, and all the Pamphlets we use for lessons in iBooks. I keep my Journal on there with my Bluetooth keyboard - which everyone thinks is way cool. And it is! I also have tons of LDS podcast, Mormon Channel etc. The church has some awesome apps!! Oh and btw. Have you seen the new Mormon Message about using Technology to share the Gospel?? Its awesome and I like it a lot. The churches Multimedia department is doing really good. We even have pass along cards that have QR codes on them! to get a free digital copy of the Book of Mormon. That way we don’t have to hand out physical copies! And also we’re on Facebook. Were going to work with the Branch President and Branch Council to make a Branch FB page and put stuff on there. We are also going to try to start asking members who they know we could add on FB and teach. So pretty cool stuff, I love how techy our mission is.
Well that’s about it! Thanks to everyone that has wrote me lately!! Hope school is going well for Jared.
Have a great week!
