Hey! 23
July 2012 (written July 27)
Sorry
that my letter is late. I was super, super sick on Monday. And after that it’s
just been a crazy week. But here it is! So last Monday there isn't a whole lot
that we did, it was our P-Day. So the usual stuff, laundry, shopping etc. Then
we had dinner with the House Family. Tuesday - We went over to Bruce's house.
We do a lot of service for him. He's a really cool old guy, retired Air Force.
So we went over and helped him cut up a big tree, then stacked the wood. Then
we stayed at his house and his friend Trisha came over. She has a lot of art
pieces that she has painted and she wants to sell them. So were helping her put
a website and stuff together. So she brought over all her paintings, and I took
really good pictures of all of them - with my nice camera :) They had to be
really high quality pictures because she's going to use them to put on her
website and to use to reprint her paintings to sell. Then we had lunch with
them. Then we headed over to the Glaser's (Members). They have a huge old barn
and a really old cool house. They wanted us to come over to move some stuff in
the top floor of the barn, because they are going to have the floor replaced because
its super old. So we moved a ton of really old, gross stuff, haha. There were webs
and dust all over everything. We were almost done and I was carrying a board,
when I got a sharp pain in the ball of my foot. I thought it was just a sharp
rock or something. So I kept going a little. Then I stopped to get it out of my
shoe. So I took my shoe off, and the bottom of my foot was all bloody. My socks
were black, but I could see a hole and blood streaming out of the hole in my
sock. And I was like holy cow, because I had never seen myself bleed that much
before. I looked into my shoe and there was a shard of glass sticking up from
the bottom of my shoe. I waited for my companion to come over and I said my
foot got cut by glass. And he said let me see, so I showed my foot to him, and
he was like holy cow, wait here... And he went and got the other people helping
us. So I limped to the house, and we cleaned my foot off, and put a wrap on it,
etc. My companion took the piece of glass out of my shoe. It had gone right
through the bottom and went right into my foot. So that was exciting, haha.
Then that night we had an appointment with our new investigator, but no one was
home. So we went over to the House's and we had dinner with them. Wednesday -
We had a few appointments lined up for the afternoon but they all canceled. So
we headed to Emmaus to do a little tracting. But on our way there the weather
got really bad and there was a ton of thunder and lightning and really heavy
rain. So we just waited in our car for the storm to pass. Then that night we
had dinner with the Siguine's (members). Thursday - Had District Meeting as
usual. Didn't do a whole lot that day, we tracted at night. We have to ask a
certain amount of people for referrals, so we knocked until we got 45. It wasn't very bad, the people were pretty
nice in the neighborhood we went to. Friday - We went over to Bruce's house in
the morning and Trisha made us breakfast. Then I helped her with her website. I
edited all of her pictures in Photoshop, it was my first time using it in
almost 9 months so I forgot how do some stuff. Then that night we went over to
the Messier's home for dinner. They are a Less-Active family that we stopped by
to see if we could get to know them better and they invited us over for dinner!
They were really cool and it went well. Then after that we had sports night
over in Kutztown. It's where us and the Missionaries from Kutztown get together
to play basketball or volleyball, and then we invite investigators or ward
members. We just had a few people there, but we played basketball. And yes I
played...even though I suck at basketball and I’m not a huge fan of it. But it wasn't
that bad and we had fun. Saturday- 1 year ago on Saturday I opened my Mission
Call!!! Crazy stuff, I can’t believe it's been one year. I also found out that
me and Elder Cannon opened ours on the same night. We both waited a day to open
ours. Cool Beans! Saturday we had our Branch Pioneer Day BBQ. So yes they do
celebrate Pioneer Day over here, at least the Mormons do. Hah, no one else
knows what it is. So that went good, met and talked to a lot of people and had
a good time. There isn't a whole lot to say about Sunday, other than we
went to church and it was good ;) Monday- ughhh was not a good day. It’s a long
story kind of so I will try to make it short. But basically I was up at
4AM throwing up through the rest of the morning. I was just super sick and
couldn't stop throwing up. I called the mission nurse and they said that I
couldn't go to the doctor because it wasn't serious enough or something. But
she said it was probably food poisoning, and she told me not to eat or drink
anything, because I couldn't hold anything down. So we canceled our appointment
that night. And we went over to the Houses to do our laundry and I slept at
their house like all day. It was horrible, I felt so dead. But Tuesday it got a
ton better, and as the week has gone by. I also found out that some other
members of the ward had the same symptoms that I did on Monday. So it must have
been something from the Branch BBQ.
So
this is the last week of the Transfer. Which means I have been here in Milford
for 6 weeks, and my companion goes home next Tuesday. So I will be getting
another new companion...hopefully someone cool. Transfers always stress me out
a little. I will be taking over this area, and I really don't know it super
well. So it’s going to be like having 2 new missionaries in the area. And we
also don't have a lot of people to teach right now. So that will be fun ;) Some
of my friends still love me and write me every now and then ;) hah
Umm
I can’t think of much else to say. Kylee thanks for the shirt! And mom
thanks for the gift-cards, Card and bookmark!
Have
a great week! Happy Birthday Kylee!
