Sup! 12
June 2012
So we had a good past
week. Last Monday was Elder Fredrickson's Birthday. We kind of just hung
out in the morning. Then the Moorestown
missionaries wanted to kidnap him for his birthday, so they called me and we
set it up. They came and kidnapped him and we
went to a fun center and played mini golf and went bowling. It was fun. Then we
went over to the Snyder's for dinner. The Mass family was also there! It was
Fredrickson's birthday dinner. We had cake and they got him some presents. It
was a fun night! We love both of those families! Tuesday we had Zone
Conference. It was over in Philadelphia. So we left our apartment at
7:30 to get there by 8:15ish. It takes about a half hour to get to Philly
from where we live. Zone Conference was good! Then we had to hurry back to New
Jersey to have dinner with the Foulk Family! They are awesome too!! Thursday we
had District Meeting and then we went on exchange after. I was with Elder
Atwood in my area. He is really cool. Elder Fredrickson was with Elder Baker
our District Leader. I had a really awesome lesson/talk
with Caitlin (investigator/friend of Kevin's family) on Facebook!! It was basically
the first time I've taught a real lesson on Facebook so far. I committed her to come
to church on Sunday, and she ended up coming! The exchange went until
Friday afternoon. It went pretty well. Then we went and saw Brother Laws.
He is a guy in his 70's that is less active. But we go over to his house
every Friday at 4 to read the Book of Mormon with him. We also went
and helped John Bravo out. He has a house that he's getting ready to rent out.
So we've helped him rip out all the carpet, and on Friday we started to put
down hard wood floors. He is a really cool guy, and he gives us dinner every
now and then in return for the help we give him. Later we stopped by Kevin's
house cause we hadn't seen him or the family all week!!! Which is rare haha.
Kyra (their daughter 14) was getting ready to go to her 8th grade dance. So the
house was kind of crazy. But we had a good time and it was good to see them.
Saturday we mowed Bro. Laws lawn. Later we stopped by Ross and I got some
awesome new ties!! That night Dawn called us and asked us if we were busy, and
we weren't and she said they wanted to take us out to dinner! So we met them at
Baja Fresh and had a really good time! They went to the beach that day with a
few other families from the ward. It was a really good night!! Sunday was
awesome! Kevin, Dawn, Kyra and Caitlin were all there! And Steve Parker was
there too! Another one of our investigators. That night the Berdugo's
invited us over for dinner. They are awesome!! They fed us tons of food. Sis.
Berdugo made us the best cheesy potato soup I've ever had!! It was soo
good.
Mom I'm glad nursery
is going well for you kind of haha. I laugh when I hear about your nursery
stories. I'm sure it takes a lot of patience.
To answer your question about my testimony growing because of the
scriptures, I would say my testimony of the scriptures has grown a Ton while on
my mission, because as you probably know I didn't really read them a ton before
I left. So while I have read them on my mission its almost like I'm discovering
them for the first time. If that makes sense. Or they just mean a lot more to
me then before. We can get so many answers from the scriptures. In fact that is
the best way to get personal revelation. Hope that answers your question.
That's pretty cool what Kevin said to you in that letter. Whenever we’re at
their house, I just think about how much they have all changed since the first
time we came over.
So I've got some
awesome news. Normally I would wait to tell you about this until next week. Because
this happened this week not last but... Last night (Monday night) we went
over to Kevin's house. (this will be the short version). And basically we went
over to visit with Kevin and Dawn, but we ended up talking to Kyra about how she
felt about the church etc. and we were able to set her with a date to be
baptized!!!!! On August 5th! It was an awesome lesson!!! And just a great
night overall.
So we now have two
people with a baptism date! Yay!!
Well that's about
all. Hope you guys have a great week!!
Love ya's
-Elder Jeremy
Jensen.
p.s. this is
possibly my last week in this area. :( I've been in this area since around
thanksgiving! I've loved it here and I will miss the people and area a lot if I
leave. I will find out on Saturday if I'm being transferred or not. I've told
the people I'm writing to wait to write me until they find out if I'm moving or
not.
