Elder Jensen's Letter 2/6/2012

Hey!
Well this past week has gone pretty good, definitely a lot better then the week before! We found 8 new investigators this last week! :) We met a Hindu family who we are now teaching, that we met last week. They are going to be a little hard to teach because they have their own "Hindu" beliefs and the parents speak little English. And so we have to kind of talk to them through their kids because their kids can speak good English. But they are open and like having us over. And we were able to get a Book of Mormon in Hindu for them!
This past week we were in an area that has a lot of trees and so at night it is very dark cause the trees block the moonlight and there are no street lights. So me and my companion were trying to find a house of a less active that we hadn't been to before, and we couldn't tell what house it was cause it was so dark. So we were looking at all the mailboxes to try to find house numbers. So we finally found it and they weren't home. So we moved on and stopped by some other people a few streets over. We were on a guys porch talking to him for a few minutes and a cop walks up to us. He asked if we were driving the Silver Corola parked on the street, we said yes. He said he needed to talk to the driver (which was me) I was trying to think in my head what i could of possibly done wrong.. So he had me come talk to him while my companion continued to talk to a potential investigator. The cop said someone had called the police and reported 2 people that looked suspicious and gave them our license number. So the cops tracked us down to see who we were and what we were doing. He asked if i had a soliciting license. I showed him my ministerial certificate which worked :) After he found out we were missionaries etc. he was very nice. And i talked to him for a little bit about what we do as missionaries.
So we now have 5 people with a baptism date. Nancy lost her date, because she was supposed to be baptized yesterday and wasn't. Luckily we have a member in a ward that has been able to get in contact with Nancy more then we have, so she has talked to her. And i guess with everything that's going on in her life the whole church thing just is too much for her right now. But she hasn't "dropped" us or anything. We just have to give her some time.
We went to visit a potential investigator last week that we had met about a month ago. She was home and so was her 20 year old son and his girl friend. They let us in and were very nice. When we had originally met the mom we had given her a Plan of Salvation pamphlet. And her son had taken it and read it, and turns out he had dated a girl in our ward a few years ago. So he had been to our church before and knew a little bit about it. He said he really liked how the Family is such a big thing in our church. We talked with him and his girlfriend and his mom and answered questions about our church. And he asked us to come back to tell them more! And his girlfriend said she would come over the night we would be there. So two more new investigators there! :)
I finished the Book of Mormon this past week! I had to finished it beforeI was done being trained. So just in time, because this is my last week of training! Transfers are next Tuesday, and I could possibly be getting a new companion... maybe we don't know yet. Or i could be leaving.. who knows..
But yeah i have been out for two transfers now here in Medford, NJ.
And everything is going good, hopefully we can get baptism dates for all of these new investigators!
Thanks everyone that has sent me letters! i have got a lot lately!
Have a great Week!!
Love, Elder Jensen :)
