Heeey! Jan. 7, 2013
Well we had a good week, lots of interesting/good/bad things. Sooo here it goes: Monday (New Year’s Eve) did usual P-Day stuff. The Holland’s invited us to come over for dinner that night. We had a good time with them, hung out a little. Then with our remaining time in the night we went over to the other Elders apartment for a little. Tuesday -New Year’s Day, it was pretty much a normal day for us. That day I actually locked us out of our apartment because I forgot to grab the keys. But it wasn’t a problem because we have a senior couple nearby that has a copy of our keys so they were able to let us in. That night we had dinner with the Bishops family. That went good. We went and read the Book of Mormon with Rick Powers that night, then had a lesson with Debbie. Brother Arthur came with us to that appointment. It’s been so hard to get members to lessons lately because everyone is gone. And we don’t want to over use the people that are still here. Sister D is confusing us, she is doing really good on Reading the Book of Mormon, and likes and agrees with what we teach. But she won’t come to church, she teaches disabled kids at her Catholic church. She helps them to be baptized etc. (even though she agrees that handicapped people aren’t accountable or responsible for their choices) but she's been doing it for 20 years, so she won’t come to church because she had to teach her class. So we’re kind of thinking to drop her or put her on hold, which is tough because she is doing so well with everything else. But it’s been like 2 months now and she hasn’t come to church. Thursday - We had Zone Training, so we got to see the rest of the missionaries in our zone. So that took up most of our morning. We had lunch, and then had a really good lesson with Cinquetta. She is doing so good! We taught the Gospel, and talked about baptism. She really does want to be baptized and to change for the better. Her kids like church and things are going well. After that we had weekly planning, then that night we had a lesson with Nicole, one of our newer investigators. She cooked us dinner, made my favorite, yellow rice and beans! Then we taught her the Restoration. Friday - We went on exchange, I went with Elder Turpin to his area, Hunting Park. Random fact - Elder Turpin was trained by my MTC Companion. He's really cool and we had a good exchange. We got along really well. (I wasn’t there but back in my area, Elder Rabe and Elder Taylor met with Cinquetta that night, they told her that she would have to be married to her boyfriend to get baptized. We've been a little worried to bring it up. I was pretty sure she wouldn’t have a problem with it, but the boyfriend might. But they told me the lesson went really good and that she wants to get married. And she understood why) YAYAYAY!!! Saturday - Ok we had Missionary coordination in the morning, we switched back companions. We had a lesson with Nikki - another newer investigator. She hadn't had a chance to read since last time so we read the first 3 chapters with her. She liked it. Later in the day we were able to have FHE with Ruby. Sunday - had PEC in the morning. We went and picked up Rishie for church. (He lives across the street from us.) Cinquetta came. I went and talked to her to see how the lesson had gone. I think it’s been a little hard for her, she talked to her boyfriend and he's feeling pressured and not really liking the idea. But I can tell that she really wants this so she's trying to make it work. She even was willing to talk to bishop so that he could help her figure out some options. We taught Gospel Principals, got our new Lorenzo Snow Manuals. After church we ate and stopped by some people. Then we had a really good lesson with Nicole, taught the Plan of Salvation. She was saying that she still needed to know more. But then I had her read Alma 32:21 about how faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things, it made a lot of sense to her, she even started to cry. And she agreed to give it a chance and said she would pray about it. So we will see how that went in a few days. That was the week! Today we’re going to the Rocky Steps and then the Liberty Bell!!! I’m excited for that!! We find out transfer news at the end of this week!! So I will let you know!! Just hit 14 Months!!!
Gotta go!
Love, Elder Jeremy Jensen
