So I'm getting transferred...Tomorrow.
It was definitely a surprise! I was totally expecting Elder Rabe to leave cause
he's been here for 6 months and usually after a new missionary has taken over
the area and finished being with his 2nd companion they will usually get moved.
But I guess not. Cause he is staying and I'm leaving. I found out late Friday
night, and then I had to have all my stuff packed and ready to be picked up by
6 on Saturday night. They come pick it up early because we don't have a car, so
they drop it off at the mission office. So on Tuesday I will just have my
backpack and my carry-on bag with just a few of the things I kept so I could
still get by until Tuesday. It kind of stinks, I've been using 2 towels as
blankets and all my pictures on my wall and everything on my desk is gone. Brother
Carter from the ward is driving us. It's only 30 minutes away but if we were to
take the bus it would take us almost 2 hours and we would have to get up way
early. Anyways so that's all the transfer news. Sounds like this is going to be
a big transfer. All but 3 of the companionship's have somebody getting
transferred, and that's just in our zone. We're getting like 17 new
missionaries, and about 5 are going home with 25 new missionary’s next
transfer. Ok here is a quick review of the week. Monday- we went down to center
city, saw the rocky steps, got a picture by the rocky statue. It was actually a
nice warm day. We stopped by the Philly Temple site and they have finally
started!! It's a parking lot right now, but they were digging, they have to dig
deep because they are going to have a parking garage. Then we stopped and ate
at subway. After that we took a subway to Independence Hall and the Liberty
Bell. We got a tour of the place where they signed the Declaration of Independence
etc. We had to have all our stuff checked for weapons and stuff when we went
in. It was pretty cool to finally see the Liberty Bell that I've been hearing about my
whole life. After all that we went to Bro. P had dinner with him then read
the Book of Mormon. Then we just stopped by a couple people. Tuesday - nothing
to exciting in the morning, we met with Cinquetta that night with Bro. Walker.
We talked about prayer, fasting and tithing. She is going to try to move out so
that she can get baptized, but it might take a while because she wouldn’t be
able to pay for it all herself right now. So she’s going to try to get a job etc.,
possibly move in with family. Oh that day I also converted one of my new fat
ties into a skinny tie. I was pretty proud of myself it looks pretty good. Wed
- Well not much to say for that day all of our appointments fell through, so we
mostly just had stop by's throughout the day. Thursday - Had district meeting
and weekly planning. We taught Debbie with Bro. Payne. We decided were going to
drop her. We had her read Moroni 8 (about baptizing little kids) and she said
she didn’t agree with it, and she just doesn’t get the whole one true church
thing. So we don’t think it’s worth our time anymore. But she is a really nice
lady, just not ready to change. After that we saw Nicole, we read Alma 32 with
her then set her with a date for March 3rd. Friday - stop by's in the morning,
we finished the new member lessons with Shamoya, we taught Ayanna, a recent
convert and her sister who is going to get baptized. Then we stopped over at
Mom's house at the end of the night. Then late that night I found out I was
leaving. Saturday - I started packing in the morning. Then we went out to see
people. Kept packing during lunch. We went and taught Nikki the plan of
salvation, then more stop by’s, then came back for dinner and more packing. Ugh.
I hate packing my stuff up, it just takes forever and it’s like a puzzle I got to
make everything fit just right. We also stopped by Cinquetta to let her know
that I was leaving. She was sad that I was going. Sunday was Ward Conference.
They told us we needed to be there early as usual for the stake leadership
meeting. Then they ended up telling us that they actually didn’t want us in
there... Church was good. Cinquetta and her two boys were there as well as
Nikki and her husband. I got pictures with some members and handed out my
contact cards. We had lunch then went over to Cinquetta's. We were there for a
while and just talked about a lot of stuff. She is way cool and really solid
and we’re teaching her because she found mormon.org on google! How cool is that! Then we had dinner then went
over to a few families houses throughout the night to get pictures etc. Today
us and the other Elders are going to get pizza and play monopoly at our place.
And I have letters to write. I’m just going to try not to think about transfers
so I don’t get stressed or nervous. Mom is going to feed us tonight since I’m
going. Well I will let you know where I end up.
Peace!
-Elder Jeremy Jensen
