Hey everyone!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Wow! I can't believe its 2012!! It’s pretty crazy!
Well it's been another interesting week. On Tuesday night we were basically knocking from 4:30 til around 9. And it was raining pretty hard. So we got soaked, and no one wanted to talk or open their door because of the weather. So that was kind of tough. We couldn’t get any appointments with anyone so knocking was the only thing left to do. On Wednesday, I went on an exchange with Elder Anderson (our District Leader) We went and taught one of our investigators - Toni. Who is a really cool guy, he is very interested in our church and has a really good friend in Utah that is LDS that he talks to a lot. His friend has sent him the Book of Mormon, ensign and some other really good stuff to Toni. He has done a lot of research on our church. It's sometimes hard to get through a lesson with him cause he talks a lot and shares stories about everything. Oh also that day I was asked to speak in sacrament meeting. So I worked on that through the week. I was asked to speak on the Book of Mormon and missionary work; I was able to use some of my farewell talk. It went very good and I talked for about 20 mines. Wow. Also while on the exchange, we had some appointments cancel so I set up an appointment with Nancy – one of our investigators. We had taught the first 3 lessons to her and we don’t really like to teach the rest unless they are really progressing or have a baptism date. So I decided to teach her the importance of the Book of Mormon and reading it along with Baptism. When we finished talking about baptism she asked us what she needs to do to be baptized... So we asked her if she wanted to be baptized and she said yes. So we committed her to Feb. 5th! We also have one other investigator with a date (Patricia, she is a the Dominican we met on the side of the road.) her date is Feb. 26th. So were excited for both of them! This week has been really really hard to get appointments with people... so we knocked a ton! We gave out a lot of pass a long cards. I’m still not a huge fan of tracing/knocking.
The last few days the weather has been pretty nice it’s been in the 50's here. But today it is FREEZING. Around 30 degrees, but the wind is blowing so it’s even colder. So I have lots of layers on along with my coat and gloves etc.
New years eve wasn’t too exciting... but that’s ok. An old lady had us come over around 7 and we had take out Chinese with her. She is blind and old, so it was interesting and kind of awkward. Hah and then I spoke in Sacrament mtg. on new years Day.
Ok so here are a few interesting things from this week. I had a guy tell me that I look like a young Leonardo De Capri... Oh I found out I was in the Deseret News. Pretty cool beans! I also heard from a lady that David Archuleta is going on a mission?? Has he got his call yet?
So everything is going well! I have officially been on my Mission for 2 months! And my first transfer ended today! I will probably be with my Trainer for this new transfer and then he will probably leave, and I will most likely stay in the area.
I know some of my friends are about to be entering the MTC pretty soon. So good luck guys! have fun! I know Danny Harding just left for Honduras yesterday!! That’s pretty cool, I’m excited for him.
Well that’s about it. Thank you everyone that has wrote me, keep the letters coming!
Love,
Elder Jeremy Jensen
