Hey Everyone,
Well I'm surviving out here in New Jersey. Its starting to get colder. So i have to wear a lot of layers, gloves and my coat.
I'm
slowly getting used to everything and figuring out how everything
works. This has been a crazy week for us. We had 3 really long meetings
that we had to drive to. And so they took most of our teaching time
those three days. We have a car but we are limited to 925 miles per
month and when we have to be driving to philly or somewhere out of our
area a lot those miles go really fast. So we have been trying to get
members to drive us around, which is sometimes hard because they are
usually busy. We also has a ton of our appointments cancel on us this
week. Which is the Worst! Because then we have to think of what we can
do for the next hour because we no longer have a teaching appointment.
We have about 4ish steady investigators. they are all moving kind of
slow, but eventually i think they will all commit to baptism. It's just
going to take some time. Waiting for them to accept the message is one
of the hardest parts. Because to us our church just makes sense and
is kind of easy to understand. But they have all of these concerns that
they have to get over before they can accept what were saying.
A while ago i told you about a Spanish lady that we met on the side of
the road. Ever since we met her (about 2 1/2 weeks ago) we felt that she
is ready to be baptized. We have had two scheduled appointments with
her, but both have fell through. :( We had an appointment with her this
last Saturday. And we tried to stop by her house as much as possible
this past week and make sure that we were still on for Saturday. Each
time she would tell us how excited she is for us to come over, and for
her to go to church etc. She is always telling us how much she loves the
Mormons! She is soo cool. We just need to teach her! We know she isn't
avoiding us. I think she is just very forgetful, and forgets that we are
coming over and goes somewhere. Idk but once we finally meet with her, I'm sure we will have her converted in 30 mins. :)
Before my mission i did not realize how important the members are in
missionary work. But we rely on them so much. But its hard sometimes
because we basically need a member to come with us to every lesson. At
least it is recommended, but they have to for sure be a any lessons with
a female. And most of our investigators are female. And its sometimes
very hard to find a member who can go with us to a lesson or drive us
somewhere. But we have been working on building a stronger relationship
with the ward council and the members. We are trying to meet with a lot
of the member families, and teach them lessons. And show them how they
can do missionary work themselves.
We went to walmart this week and made some Christmas photo cards. They
look pretty cool, so were going to give those to the members that help
us out a lot. And also to some of our investigators.
We have
Christmas Zone Conference tomorrow in Philly. It's supposed to go pretty
much all day. And we are supposed to prepared two 5 min Talks. ahhh
And i have like no time at all to prepare those.
One of the members called us yesterday and asked us if we had a Christmas tree. I told them we have a paper one on the wall but not an
actual tree. They told us that they found a mini spruce tree growing in
their yard, and that they would dig it up and put it in a pot for us. So
now we have a mini "charlie brown" Christmas tree. Its kind of funny.
We don't have any plans for Christmas yet... We are supposed to be in by 6
pm on Christmas eve. And were not supposed to Tract on Christmas. But
hopefully someone invites us over to their house on Christmas.
Well i cant think of anything else to write. Thank you to everyone that
has wrote me! I love to get letters, So all of my friends out there you
should sent me a letter! :) Tell me how things are going. I heard Sam
Norton got his Call to Spain.. Pretty Cool Beans
Hope everyone has a good week!
