May 7th, 2012 - 6 Months!

Hey Everyone!        May 7, 2012

Good News!!!! I'm staying in my area for another 6 weeks! I'm Super Happy!!! So here is a little of what we did this last week.
Monday we went and played basketball with the other missionaries in our district, and hung out with Elder Hunt because he is going home tomorrow! Crazy!!
Oh and Elder Fredrickson and me went and ate at Five Guys for the first time, it was pretty good! On Tuesday I had to go the Dentist to get a filling on one of my teeth. It was my first time going to another dentist. It was a little ghetto...haha. On Thursday we were able to go to the Family History Center at our Stake Center in Cherry Hill. We got Kevin to go with us, and John Bravo one of our investigators. Kevin is really into the whole Family History thing right now, because it's all new to him. He made some pretty cool discoveries in his family History! John Bravo told the Family History ladies that if they were able to find his grandfathers info that he would make a "sizable" donation to the church of maybe become a Mormon. haha! Cross your fingers! Friday we went and did service for an older less active guy in our ward. We got to mow his lawn and edge it. It was pretty hot outside I was dying! hah. Elder Fredrickson had a recent convert that was going to the temple to get sealed on Saturday. So on Friday night we drove over to Philly to stay with some missionaries, Elder Thayne and Elder Callaway. It was Elder Callaway and Elder Fredrickson's recent convert going to the DC temple so they went down together Saturday morning. Elder Thayne and me were companions for the day in Philly!!! It was pretty cool/interesting/different! A lot different then my area, hah. Philly is pretty much all black people and my area is basically all white people. haha. So we did a ton of bus riding and walking, and we had to do street contacts -walking up to random people and talking to them about the gospel. There are a ton of people walking on the streets and they are actually pretty friendly and will stop and talk to you. Haha. I saw a lot of interesting things that day, I can imagine being a missionary in that area. We were walking down a street and 3 black guys flipped us off in a car passing by. Lol. That was also the day we found out if we’re getting transferred or not.  We all thought I was leaving for sure! Because I’ve been in this area since Thanksgiving. So I called my District Leader to find out if I was leaving or not, and he told me I was.. I wasn’t sure if I should believe them or not cause we joke around a lot with each other. But I decided to believe him, and I was pretty sad cause I didn’t want to leave this area. We have a lot of good things going on in our area right now, and I didn’t want to miss everything that was happening. So I was kind of down after hearing I was leaving. I also talked to my companion on the phone (he was down in DC) and he also told me that I was leaving. So I got on Facebook and posted that I would miss the area etc.. Then I get a phone call from my companion saying, you’re not really leaving!! I guess the AP's (assistants) had seen my status on FB and were confused cause I wasn’t leaving.  They called my companion to see why I thought I was leaving. So it turns out it was a joke and I wasn’t really leaving the area... :) I’m super glad. This past week we saw a lot of prayers get answered and lots of miracles!!! We had some really good things happen with Kevin’s Family!! They are doing SUPER good!! We love them!! Kevin blessed the sacrament for the first time on Sunday! It was so cool to see him do that. It’s really cool to see how the Gospel has changed him and his families lives.
Well that’s about it.. :) the weather here has been really gloomy lately, rained a lot.
Hey, got some free time? Write me a letter!! Same address for 6 more weeks ;)
Can't wait to call home this Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love Elder Jeremy Jensen
